Our biofilm sensor, developed in collaboration with FFoQSI and the University of Veterinary Medicine (Vetmeduni) Vienna, was awarded the prize for the “Invention of the Year (Hard IP)”. Dr. Kathrin Kober-Rychli and Prof. Dr. Martin Wagner from the Vetmeduni received the award during the Vetmed Science Day on January 29. RECENDT was also present at the award ceremony.
The prototype of the sensor was recently successfully tested under real conditions in collaboration with an industrial partner of the food industry. While conventional swab methods only deliver results after several days of laboratory evaluation, the Raman spectroscopy-based sensor enables immediate detection of biofilms directly on site – a decisive time and quality advantage for the food industry.
