Great news for RECENDT: our colleagues Georg Watzl and Paul Gattinger received the JKU Young Researchers’ Award for their outstanding scientific work.
The award ceremony took place on 25th of June 2026 in the ceremony hall of the Uni-Center. The awards were presented by Vice-Rector Alberta Bonanni and TNF Dean Alois Ferscha.
Georg Watzl received the award for his dissertation “Discrete laser-ultrasonic spectroscopy using guided waves”. His work focuses on fast, non-destructive laser ultrasound methods to measure elastic properties and the thickness of plates and layer systems using guided elastic waves.
Paul Gattinger worked on the development and characterization of an infrared spectrometer. This spectrometer makes it possible to read out IR absorption and chemical information in the visible and near-infrared spectral range using quantum entanglement.
We warmly congratulate both of them on this special award!
