Children's University Linz: Light and waves in Medicine

On July 8 and 9, curious young researchers aged 7 to 15 immersed themselves in the fascinating world of light and waves at the "Children's University",

Under the guidance of Bettina Heise and Karoline Felbermayer, the children experienced exciting experiments on the secrets of diffraction, refraction, reflection, and scattering.

A special highlight was the insight into the medical application of these phenomena. Prim. Univ. Prof. Dr. Hans Geinitz and his dedicated team from the Ordensklinikum Linz showed the young explorers how light and waves are used in medicine.

The children were allowed to try their hand at drawing organs in 3D CT data sets and learned the basics of radiation planning. An unforgettable experience that perfectly combined science and fun!

This work is co-financed by the project “HyperMAT” by the federal government of Upper Austria and the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE) in the framework of the EU-program IBW/EFRE & JTF 2021-2027.
