Hyperspectral Characterization and Visualization of Complex Material Systems
Project information:
In the "HyperMAT" project, advanced procedures for the spectral characterization are developed in order to obtain information about the chemical composition (= concentration of molecules) in a sample using ultrasound excited by infrared light, or information about the element distribution in a sample through its interactions with X-rays. Both are important pieces of information that complement each other.
RECENDT and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH OÖ) are therefore working together in this collaborative project to measure this information on complex material systems by spatially resolved (i.e. ‘hyperspectral’) imaging and to obtain bidimensional or three-dimensional visualization. This hyperspectral characterization should make it possible in future to characterize waste streams for more efficient separation or to reduce waste as far as possible directly in the production process through in-line process and quality control, thus enabling resource- and energy-efficient production.
