Laser-ultrasound methods for observing metallurgical processes in steel during thermal treatment

Project Information:

  • Projekt Title: Laser-ultrasound methods for observing metallurgical processes in steel during thermal treatment
  • Acronym: STAHLUS
  • Duration: 36 Month (Start 01.03.2023)
  • Funding:  Die österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft FFG
Goal:

Goal:

In this project, laser ultrasound methods for the detection of microstructural changes during a metallurgical process will be developed. The aim is a fast analysis, which can be repeated for different process parameters with greatly reduced time expenditure. This is necessary to optimize new manufacturing processes involving the recycling of higher fractions of scrap-steel quickly and energy-saving, with regard to material properties, process speed and energy consumption.

In this way, our project accelerates the steps towards achieving the announced CO2 neutrality by 2050.
